CAP CANA, La Altagracia. The president, Luis Abinader, accompanied by David Collado, the Minister of Tourism, presided over the formal inauguration of El Dorado Park, a theme water park. It is part of the portfolio overseen by the investment fund manager Altio, and is situated within the Destination City of Cap Cana.
El Dorado Park, the Dominican Republic’s inaugural theme water park, features over 16 attractions and can accommodate several thousand visitors with its infrastructural design. Its innovative and sustainable amphitheater adds to its charm. El Dorado Park is an asset of the ALTIO II Closed Development Fund.
The president of El Dorado Park, Carlos Cobiella, expressed his gratitude to President Abinader for his ongoing support since he began his term, during the inauguration ceremony. Cobiella noted that El Dorado Park is aimed at becoming a significant destination for tourism in the Dominican Republic, aiding in the diversification of the current tourism landscape and providing new job opportunities. It currently creates over 350 direct jobs and 500 indirect jobs.
Cap Cana’s Board of Directors President, Fernando Hazoury, thanked the Banco de Reservas for their support in their city’s projects and lauded the hard work, creativity, and determination of the Golden Park team. He also took the chance to commend President Abinader for his strategic vision in tourism and for fostering the country’s economic stability.
The future holds success and more parks
President Luis Abinader expressed his conviction that El Dorado Park is destined for remarkable success. He reaffirmed that the government will continue to back this expansion. He also emphasized the burgeoning health tourism industry and highlighted the rich culinary experiences the country has to offer.
He said confidently, "We are set to reveal projects similar to this one, powerful worldwide brand theme parks are eager to invest in the Dominican Republic alongside local investors. This indicates that Dominican tourism is progressing beyond hotels and real estate developments, making a mark in the theme park segment."
During the event, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, noted that more has been accomplished during the first four years of President Abinader’s administration in the Destination City Cap Cana than the preceding ten years.

Before the event, the State head held numerous discussions as part of his agenda in the province of La Altagracia, addressing issues related to aviation, security, Territorial Planning Plan, infrastructure projects, and alcohol sales.
The inauguration of El Dorado Park saw the presence of Alfredo Pacheco, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Minister of Public Administration, Sigmund Freund, Executive President of the Reserve Bank, Samuel Pereyra, and José Yude Michelén, a board member of the Investment Fund Manager ALTIO SAFI.
