Punta Cana—On October 17 and 18, young musicians from El Sistema Punta Cana—a social and educational program driven by the Punta Cana Foundation for Cultural and Artistic Expansion (FUNEYCA-PC)—will take the stage at the UN Fair “Tribute to Peace Through Music.” The event will be held at Plaza de la Cultura in Santo Domingo to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.
Their inclusion underscores El Sistema Punta Cana’s commitment to peace education, inclusion, and human development, using music as a catalyst for social change and community growth.
Dozens of children and teens from the Dominican Republic’s Eastern region will represent their communities at this international gathering, advancing the program’s mission: to nurture empathetic, socially conscious citizens who actively contribute to a fairer society—aligned with UNESCO principles and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Since its launch nearly four years ago, El Sistema Punta Cana has reached more than 250 participants, solidifying its reputation as an innovative educational model that blends rigorous artistic training with values such as discipline, empathy, and collaboration.
“Being part of the UN Fair is a tribute to the collective effort of a community that believes in art’s power to change lives. Our mission is to keep sowing peace and hope through music,” said Romina Aschpurwis, executive director of El Sistema Punta Cana and president of FUNEYCA-PC.
The UN “Tribute to Peace Through Music” Fair will bring together national and international institutions, embassies, and social organizations for dialogue, cooperation, and learning—promoting universal values of unity, respect, and peace.
