Punta Cana. A fire at the Club Med Punta Cana hotel led to the mobilization of several support units by Punta Cana International Airport. Their tasks include fire extinguishing and protection in collaboration with local firefighting units.
The Directorate of Extra-hospital Emergency Services (DAEH) has maintained a victim gathering area, set up with the Punta Cana airport health service.
The National Police are in charge of security, access control, and operations, working alongside the complex’s security team and POLITUR.
POLITUR manages security within the Incident Command System framework, collaborating with other internal and external security agencies.
After the incident, a command post was established at the hotel’s main entrance. At least 60 individuals are involved in the operation including firefighting teams and DAEH ambulances.
The Verón-Punta Cana City Council triggered the emergency protocol. Fire Brigades from Verón, Higuey, and Nisibón are taking part in the fire control efforts.
