MADRID SPAIN. Before starting Fitur 2024 (International Tourism Fair), David Collado, Minister of Tourism, organized a roadshow in a plaza in Madrid where he exhibited the strength of tourism in the Dominican Republic, which will reach 10 million visitors in 2023.
In front of 500 tour operators and travel agents of Spain, France, Germany and other European countries, Collado, in addition to showing the achievements and the key destinations, also advanced the projects that are coming for 2024.
“We are not going to stop at the achievements obtained,” said Collado. Its goal is to exceed 3% of Spanish tourists who visited the Dominican Republic in 2023.
The roadshow prior to Features 2024
With three giant screens, Collado presented Dominican merchants who make a living from tourism, who invited roadshow attendees to visit the Dominican Republic.
This type of event is one of the strategies with which Collado promotes the tourist benefits of the Dominican Republic. There is even a program that encourages travel agents to show the country's destinations to clients looking for where to go on vacation.
“What better way to show the beauty of our country than to join together live from different parts of the Dominican Republic with our people and for them to be the ones to introduce us to paradise,” hung up Col in Xafter the presentation at 8:00 at night in Madrid, while it was 4:00 in the afternoon in the Dominican Republic.
They go for sports tourism
To promote this sector, Collado recalled the projects that are being carried out in the Dominican Republic in this regard:
- A tennis school that will be built Rafael Nadal in Punta Cana.
- The PGA Corales golf tournament
- And other football projects.
These plans will attract Spanish tourists and encourage sports tourism.
Collado has specified that 30 agreements will be signed with airlines and tour operators throughout the European market and announcements will be made of new hotels and flights to Quisqueya.
Features 2024
The roadshow has been the prelude to the Features 2024one of the most important tourism events in Europe, which will begin this Wednesday, January 24 and will last until Sunday the 28th.
In these days, 9,000 companies from more than 120 countries will meet at Fitur 2024 which will run from January 24 to 28 in Ifema, Madrid, Spain.
The Dominican Republic and its delegation will take as a sample the destinations of Punta Bergantín, in Puerto Plata; Miches, in Seibo, and Pedernales. In the latter, the first cruise ship to arrive at that port was recently inaugurated.
