Incheon, Republic of Korea. – The Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) received the award for “Best Airport by Size and Region” in the category of 5 to 15 million passengers per year in the Caribbean and Latin America at the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards ceremony of the Airports Council International (ACI), for the seventh year in a row.

In addition to this recognition, the airport also obtained the new Customer Experience accreditation. This certification consists of eight different domains: customer understanding, strategy, measurement, operational improvement, governance, airport culture, service design and innovation, and collaboration with the airport community. It aims to guide airports towards excellence in customer experience management.

Alberto Smith, the director of Landside Operations at the PUJ, received the recognition at the Grand Ballroom Paradise City Hotel in Incheon, Republic of Korea. The award was presented by Elena Avila, Executive VP Airport IT and Airline Operations of Amadeus, and Luis Felipe de Oliveira, general director of ACI.

“We extend our gratitude to the more than 8 thousand people from various companies and institutions that work at the airport, for their dedication, passion and commitment to making this achievement possible. Their relentless pursuit of excellence has truly elevated the travel experience for millions of passengers,” Smith said.

Smith also mentioned that the airport constantly evaluates metrics to measure passenger satisfaction, using them as a compass to implement continuous improvements and create the best experience for passengers.

The Punta Cana International Airport is the first airport in the Dominican Republic to achieve this recognition and has maintained it for seven consecutive years. It is considered one of the top 10 airports in Latin America and the most important in the insular Caribbean.
