Free Zones Association Requests Review of New Taxes in Proposed Tax Reform

In Santo Domingo, RD, we at ADOZONA understand the government’s need for additional revenue to boost the country’s investments. Yet, we believe the idea of applying income tax on Free Zone Parks’ operations deserves reconsideration.

The Free Trade Zone model is uniform across the DR CAFTA region. There are no tax structures like the one being suggested in those regions, compromising our competitive advantage.

Our Free Zone Parks are already bustling. What we need is the development of more parks and more industrial space. Imposing taxes that decrease the competitiveness of these parks impedes growth, lessens attraction for more investments, and ultimately stunts job and local community benefits. We hope for reconsideration.
