Santo Domingo, DR – Fuel prices in the Dominican Republic will see moderate increases during the week of June 28 to July 4, 2025, with seven fuel types, including LPG and diesel, experiencing adjustments, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM) announced Friday.

Vice Minister of Domestic Trade, Ramón Pérez Fermín, confirmed the new pricing structure while reiterating the government’s ongoing commitment to stabilizing the cost of essential fuels through subsidies—despite mounting fiscal pressure.

“We have kept LPG prices stable for three consecutive years because of its importance to households, transport, and industry,” Pérez Fermín stated during his weekly address. “This week, some adjustments are necessary, but our commitment to shielding Dominican families remains firm.”

Subsidies Continue Amid Rising Costs

For this pricing period, the government will absorb a total of RD$145.8 million to mitigate the impact of international price fluctuations on local consumers. This continues a subsidy program that has seen more than RD$85 billion allocated since 2021, including RD$7 billion in 2025 alone, all managed without increasing public debt or jeopardizing fiscal stability.

Pérez Fermín emphasized the need for responsible adjustments to ensure the subsidy program remains sustainable in the months ahead.

“We are taking this step cautiously to prolong the effectiveness of these subsidies and to continue protecting the purchasing power of Dominican families,” he said.

Gasoline Prices Remain Unchanged

Pérez Fermín concluded by reaffirming the government’s balanced approach to managing fuel price volatility, maintaining economic stability, and cushioning households from global energy market shocks.
