due to the high demand from argentines who want to travel low cost to the Caribbean, Arajet will increase directly between buenos aires and santo domingo. The low-cost airline will increase operations between ezeiza and dominican republic in April and mid-year, as part of its projected growth for 2024 in the argentine market.
starting next april 2024, it will go from three to four weekly frequencies. There will be departures from the argentina to the dominican republic on mondays, wednesdays, fridays and sundays, making 1,120 seats available per week on planes boeing 737 max 8.
in turn, in view of the winter holidays, in june it will increase its number of frequencies to six per week, totaling 1,680 weekly seats available, while in july it will offer daily flights with 1,960 seats per week, according to el cronista.
about, victor pacheco mendez, ceo and founder of arajet, pointed out that “the airline is betting heavily on the argentine market to offer the opportunity to travel at low prices and learn about new experiences and cultures. ” we continue to promote tourism and connectivity between buenos aires and santo domingo, and the 23 destinations we operate in the caribbean, central america and north america, with more than 200 connections.”
it is recalled that in november 2023, arajet launched its flights between buenos aires and santo domingo, after starting negotiations with the government in march 2023 and receiving authorization in july to begin its activity in argentina. it is the first time that the ezeiza international airport is directly connected to the las américas international airport.
the flight lasts almost eight hours and is the longest on arajet routes. it leaves at 04:25 in the morning and arrives in the dominican republic at 11:40 (dominican time). returns from santo domingo take place at 5:55 p.m. on sundays, tuesdays and thursdays, with landing time in ezeiza at 3 a.m. (local time).
the airline seeks to take argentines to its capital and beaches such as punta cana, bayahibe and the roman. and also to lesser-known destinations in the country such as boca chica, guayacanes and juan dolio; and others from central and north america, since from santo domingo you can connect with cancún, mexico city, guatemala city, san josé de costa rica, san salvador, montreal and toronto, among other tourist spots.
buenos aires was the best-selling route of the five that arajet added to its network in the second half (the other four connect santo domingo with são paulo, santiago de chile, montreal and toronto). punta cana leads the demand of argentines, with 55% of purchases. the other 45% are connections to more destinations from the santo domingo hub. thus, the bet is to make the national market one of the most important for the company.
