Hospitality industry professionals appreciate new government regulations aimed at reducing the impact of sargassum

Santo Domingo, RD. – The Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic, asonahores, highlighted the importance of the creation of the Cabinet to Fight Sargassum for the tourism industry. They consider this measure a timely opportunity to mitigate the effects of these algae on the country’s beaches and coasts.

David Llibre, president of Asonahores, stated that the entity will support the Cabinet as part of the advisory council. They will contribute to coordinating and executing efforts that promote the development of public policies, positively impacting the environment and fostering sustainable growth in the tourism sector.

“From Asonahores, we applaud President Luis Abinader’s initiative and recognize the efforts to reclaim our beaches for the enjoyment of all Dominicans and tourists who visit us year after year,” said Llibre.

The Cabinet consists of the Minister of Tourism, the Minister of the Environment and Natural Resources, the Minister of Economy, Planning and Development, the Executive Vice President of the National Council for Climate Change and Clean Development Mechanism, the General Commander of the Navy of the Dominican Republic, a representative of the Ministry of the Presidency, and a delegate from Asonahores representing the private sector.
