La cadena Hyatt aviva mucho más su potente expansión, pues acaba de anunciar la compra de Playa Hotels & Resorts por unos 2,600 millones de dólares, incluyendo cerca de 900 millones de deuda, y añadirá 24 hoteles con 8,627 cuartos en México, República Dominicana Y Jamaicaaunque prevé vender una parte a partir de los próximos meses.

Hyatt, con 11 marcas en su división de resorts Inclusive Collection y unas 55.000 habitaciones, ya tenía el 9,4 por ciento del capital de Playa, en una alianza que comenzó en 2013 bajo las marcas Ziva y Zilara, y permitirá a sus accionistas un alza del 40 por ciento respecto al precio de cotización bursátil.

La hotelera radicada en Chicago, espera abonar la totalidad de la compra de Playa mediante nueva deuda, y proyecta devolver el 80 por ciento de ella para 2027 vendiendo activos, algunos de los cuales los operan otras grandes marcas.

Entre los hoteles propiedad de Playa figuran en República Dominicana el Hilton La Romana; el Hyatt Zilara y el Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana; el Sanctuary Cap Cana, el Wyndham Alltra Punta Canay el Wyndham Alltra Samaná.

En Jamaica suma el Hilton Rose Hall; el Hyatt Zilara y el Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall; el Jewel Grande, y el Jewel Paradise, mientras en México cuenta con el Hilton Playa Del Carmen; el Hyatt Zilara Cancún; el Hyatt Ziva Cancún; el Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos; el Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta; el Kimpton Tres Rios; el Paraíso de la Bonita; el Seadust Cancún Family Resort; el Yucatan Playa Del Carmen by Hilton; el Turquoize Cancún; los Wyndham Alltra de Cancún, Playa del Carmen y Vallarta.
