Iberojet-Iberia Alliance: Boosting European Tourism to Punta Cana

Punta Cana—European travel to the Caribbean just got easier. Iberojet has inked an interline agreement with Iberia that broadens its long‑haul reach and streamlines journeys to key leisure hubs—including Punta Cana, Cancún, Palmerola, Mauritius, Santa Clara, and a brand-new route to Querétaro launching December 20—by linking them to 20+ cities across Spain and Europe.

Under the new partnership, now live in major global distribution systems (GDS), travelers can depart from airports throughout mainland Spain, the Canary and Balearic Islands, and leading European gateways such as Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Naples, Florence, Turin, Toulouse, Nice, Vienna, Lisbon, Porto, Copenhagen, Prague, Budapest, and Athens. All itineraries flow through Madrid for smooth, coordinated connections.

What this means for passengers:

  • One booking, one boarding pass, and baggage checked through to the final destination
  • Coordinated schedules for easier transfers at Madrid-Barajas
  • Wider origin options across Spain and Europe for flights to Punta Cana and other long-haul resorts

In its first phase, the interline offers standard fares with one checked bag included—enhancing value for leisure travelers and improving the attractiveness of Travelplan tour packages that feature Iberojet flights. According to Iberojet commercial director Mario Domínguez, the alliance is a strategic milestone that strengthens connectivity and elevates the end‑to‑end customer experience.

Why it matters for Punta Cana:

  • Increased feeder traffic from secondary European cities via Iberia’s network
  • More competitive package options for holidaymakers
  • Simpler, stress-free journeys that encourage longer stays and higher spend

With the Iberojet–Iberia tie‑up, Punta Cana stands to gain a stronger, more reliable European pipeline just in time for peak winter travel—delivering Caribbean sunshine to more cities with fewer hassles.
