Iberojet Introduces Direct Flight from Porto to Punta Cana
On July 18, Iberojet inaugurated a direct flight from Porto, Portugal, to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, aiming to diversify the destination options for the Portuguese market.
Marked with flight code OBS853/55, the aircraft arrived at terminal A of the Punta Cana International Airport at 17:40 and departed at 19:40 local time, following a direct route OPO-PUJ-OPO. The operation was conducted using an Airbus A330.
This new route is a significant addition to Iberojet’s flight schedule for the summer season, making it one of the company’s most ambitious offerings with regards to the number of weekly flights and destinations served in both Spain and Portugal.
Iberojet plans to continue offering this flight not only during the summer months but also throughout the year. Additionally, the airline will operate flights from Lisbon to Cancun and Punta Cana, each with a weekly frequency.
Javier Castillo, CEO of Avoris in Portugal, highlighted that the Porto-Punta Cana flight is part of Iberojet’s long-term strategy to provide travelers with direct flight options to the Caribbean without the need to travel to the capital for most long-haul flights. This move reflects the company’s commitment to catering to the evolving travel preferences of its customers.
