Inaugural Dominican Cigar and Rum Business Forum held in Jamaica



Santo Domingo.- The Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Jamaica recently held its First Cigar and Rum Business Forum, a pioneering event in commercial diplomacy, which aims to boost the cigar and rum sectors of the national economy.

This forum, held at the modern AC Hotel in Kingston, provided a unique opportunity for Dominican companies to connect with key Jamaican importers and distributors, especially in the influential tourism sector, offering important business prospects in Jamaica and the Greater Caribbean.

More than one hundred guests attended, facilitating numerous B2B meetings between Dominican rum and tobacco companies and their Jamaican counterparts.

Ambassador Angie Martínez opened the event, emphasizing her role in strengthening economic ties and exploring new avenues of collaboration between the two nations.

The forum agenda included presentations and insightful discussions, focusing on the future of the tobacco and rum industries, export potential, and bilateral trade opportunities.

Keynote speakers included Daniel Beltré Acosta, Charge of Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Embassy, ​​and industry leaders such as Jack Astacio of J&J SPIRITS and Rafael Domínguez of Víctor Sinclair Tabacalera.

They shared ideas about the Dominican rum and tobacco industries and their global business opportunities.

Prominent Dominican companies such as ISIDRO BORDAS, BRUGAL, OLIVER & OLIVER, BARCELÓ, Tabacalera Palma, and Southern Tobacco Association exhibited their premium products.

The forum culminated with a Gala at the Official Residence of the Dominican Republic in Kingston, attended by more than 400 guests.

This event, part of the celebrations of the 59th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Dominican Republic and Jamaica, highlighted the cultural and economic importance of Dominican rum and cigars and laid the foundation for future partnerships between the two countries.

The Embassy, ​​headed by Ambassador Martínez, expressed its gratitude to sponsors such as DOMICEM, PEPSI JAMAICA, and others, including INTABACO, for their support in making these flagship events a success.
