INDEX partners with Dominican banks to create financial catalog for Dominican expats

The Institute of Dominicans Abroad (INDEX) and various banking institutions in the country convened the inaugural session of the technical working group in charge of developing a catalog of financial products accessible to the Dominican community abroad for personal or business projects.

Carlos de la Mota, Vice Minister for Dominican Communities Abroad and Executive Director of INDEX, emphasized that this initiative is aligned with the Dominican Government’s objective of promoting investment, banking and commitment to the financial products offered by Dominican entities for nationals residing abroad.

The initiative also aims to facilitate the acquisition of affordable housing, ensuring that returnees have adequate housing when they decide to return to the country.

De la Mota highlighted the importance of the technical table, emphasizing his commitment to his compatriots abroad.

He reiterated President Luis Abinader’s statement of February 27, emphasizing that Dominicans abroad continue to be an integral part of government policies.

He highlighted as a top priority the foreign policy focus of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez, on protecting Dominicans residing abroad.

Representatives from Banreservas, Banco BHD, Citibank, Banco Ademi, the Association of Banks of the Dominican Republic (ABA), the Dominican League of Savings and Loan Associations (LIDAAPI) and the Superintendency of Banks participated in the inauguration of the technical table (SIB) meeting.

The creation of this catalog of financial products addresses a recognized need within the Dominican community abroad.

Through conversations with the community, it became evident that there is a desire for information on investment opportunities and banking facilities, particularly with a view to a possible return to the country.
