In order to continue promoting cargo and passenger transportation, the Dominican government, through the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting actions that improve air connectivity in the country, said José Marte Piantini, president of the organization during the beginning of the fifteenth ordinary session of this year.
In this sense, the president of the organization, upon learning of the requests for new flights that will connect Punta Cana and La Romana with other destinations, detailed that the sustained growth of air transport in the country, in the last three years (August 2020-August 2023), is the result of the joint work of the Civil Aviation Board, the different government institutions and the sector.
During the meeting, the members of the plenary session learned about Air Canada’s request for a Special Permit to operate round-trip flights on the Toronto/Atlanta/Bogotá/Punta Cana/Toronto and Toronto/Miami/Bogotá/Punta Cana/Toronto routes starting September 23, 2023.
Likewise, during the same session, the request for a Special Permit from the foreign operator Condor Flugdienst was learned, to carry out cargo and passenger air operations on the Düsseldorf/La Romana/Düsseldorf route starting on November 3, 2023.
In addition, the request of the foreign air operator NEOS to carry out round-trip flights on the Malpensa/Rome/La Romana/Rome/Malpensa routes was known; Rome/La Romana/Rome and Verona/La Romana/Montego Bay/Verona.
Marte Piantini highlighted the benefits of air connectivity in the Dominican Republic, “it is increasingly easier to reach our country from anywhere in the world,” highlighting the interest shown by foreign operators in flying to and from our country.”
