The “IADWP Academy: Destination Wedding Congress” will be conducted by the International Association of Destination Wedding Professional (IADWP), in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic (MITUR), the Wedding and Events Association of the Dominican Republic (Aberd), the Tourist Cluster of Santo Domingo and the Hotel Association of Santo Domingo. Following the motto, “light the future,” this important event will be taking place from May 26th through 29th at the Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino.
The congress aims to strengthen the country’s position as a prominent destination for wedding tourism and to promote sustainable innovation, experiential design, inclusivity, technology adoption, logistic and marketing strategies, and sectoral growth.
Mirta Sánchez, president of the Aberd, expressed that this event aims to offer attendees first-rate learning and updating programs, which will significantly enhance the skills of Wedding Planners, Event Organizers and travel agents in Latin America, the United States, and Canada.
“The participants will get the chance to gain insights from leading global experts and learn about progressive techniques to elevate their businesses in the evolving destination wedding market,” she added.
Sánchez also mentioned that the IADWP has chosen the Dominican Republic as a host for this significant event for the third time, expecting to bring together over 500 professionals from the industry worldwide.
Prior to the Congress, on May 24 and 25, the EVENT & CELEBRATION TRAVEL CERTIFICATION will be taught in English with simultaneous Spanish translations. Sánchez said, “This program consisting of 12 modules is designed for Wedding Planners, travel agents, and event organizers aspiring to specialize in destination weddings, family events, and incentive trips.”
Undoubtedly, this certification will provide practical tools and broader networking opportunities for the entire Romance Tourism Value chain participants.
