As of this October, the air connectivity to Puerto Rico has been revived by three airlines, including one from Dominican Republic. These airlines fly from Cibao Airport in Santiago de los Caballeros and Las Américas Airport in Santo Domingo, both in the Dominican Republic, to two cities in Puerto Rico, Aguadilla and San Juan.
On October 28th, JetBlue began daily flights from Cibao International Airport in Santiago de los Caballeros to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan. The flights are scheduled to depart in the morning. This is not a new route for either JetBlue or Silver Airways, both of which have previously operated flights on this route. Starting from November 9 to December 14, Silver Airways will also recommence regular flights, with a total of 44 seasonal flights planned. These new flights add to the existing operations by Frontier, which has been running on the same route since last June.
Frequent flyers should note that JetBlue operates two or three daily flights between San Juan and Punta Cana based on the pre-established schedule.
The Dominican-based airline Sky High has resumed its flights from the Americas – José Franciso Peña Gómez International Airport (AILA – JFPG) to both the Puerto Rican capital and Aguadilla City. The airline operates daily flights to the capital and two weekly flights to Aguadilla, expanding its presence in Puerto Rico and further linking the two capital cities for both leisure and business travel.
The flights by JetBlue and SkyHigh are regular, whereas those by Silver Airways are temporary, though they may be continued for another few series of flights.
