Santo Domingo.- Karisma Hotels & Resorts, in association with ‘Autism Double-Checked’, is pleased to announce the introduction of ‘Autism Concierge’, a dedicated service for its guests within the world-first ASD disorder, which stems from the comprehensive program ‘Autism Double-Checked’ training program.
Karisma Hotels & Resorts is the first hotel group to offer the ‘Autism Concierge’ benefit, aimed at guests traveling with a child or adults on the autism spectrum who they can ask about specific needs during their visit to the resort. Guests seeking support while planning their vacation can contact the ‘Autism Concierge’ by emailing autism_concierge@karismahotels.com.
“We continually work to exceed our guests’ expectations by adapting to their needs,” said Daniel Lozano, Vice President of Operations at Karisma Hotels & Resorts. “In addition to ongoing training, this additional resource will assure guests that we take their concerns seriously and want them to feel at home at our resorts.”
All staff members at Karisma Hotels & Resorts have completed a series of ‘Autism Double-Checked’ courses to “help guests on the autism spectrum” and all staff who come into contact with guests have been trained in the situations that visitors with autism may face during their stay.
In 2023, Karisma Hotels & Resorts also plans to introduce temporary door alarms (available to guests upon request). These alarms will allow guests to vacation with peace of mind knowing their loved ones are safe and secure. These initiatives exist as part of Karisma Hotels & Resorts’ overall inclusion efforts.
‘Autism Double-Checked’ was created to prepare the travel industry to better serve guests with autism through targeted training for all front-facing staff. Also, it helps the community of people on the autism spectrum to confidently select the travel opportunities that best fit their needs.
The ASD community in the United States is approximately 25 million people who, according to ‘Autism Double-Checked,’ are eager to travel and loyal to brands and companies that understand their needs. The training includes three stages: general core training for all staff, department-specific training and the development of a site-specific visitor guide to support parents, carers and visitors with ASD. Once a hotel has completed all three phases, it obtains the ‘Autism Double-Checked’ Certificate.
“Inclusion is only possible if you truly understand the population you want to include,” said Alan Day, co-founder and CEO of Autism Double-Checked. “Specialized training is needed to understand and address the specific needs of travelers within the ASD disorder, and we are proud to help provide understanding and compassion to our travel industry partners. “Karisma Hotels & Resorts has truly dedicated itself to undertaking this training and pursuing its vision of diversity and inclusion.”
In Mexico, the staff of Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya, Margaritaville Beach Resort Riviera Cancún, Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancún, Generations Riviera Maya, El Dorado Royale, El Dorado Casitas Royale, El Dorado Maroma, El Dorado Seaside Suites and Palafitos Overwater Bungalows , have completed the most intensive stage of training that allows them to become certified as ‘Autism Double-Checked’. The same has happened in the Dominican Republic, with the staff of Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana and Margaritaville Beach Resort Cap Cana.
