Changes to the LATAM Group’s reservation system suggest an increase in flights to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for 2024/25 summer season. The new flights will start in December and extend till March 2025.
As reported by the Cirium platform, LATAM’s supply is expected to increase by 53.7% (in ASK) by January 2025, compared to the same time in 2024.
Punta Cana is linked with Lime Peru; Miami USA; and Santiago Chile year-round. There will be increases in the three connections to:
- Lime: 14 to 17 weekly flights with Airbus A319 and A320. Competition includes Arajet and SKY Airline.
- Miami: 1 to 3 weekly flights with Boeing 787-8 and -9. American and Frontier are competitors.
- Santiago: 1 to 3 weekly flights with Boeing 787-8 and -9. Arajet is a competitor.
The LATAM routes to Punta Cana have several advantages. Lima is the second most important hub for the group in terms of frequencies. It offers connections between the south and north of the American continent. As a result, tourists from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay will see more flights to Punta Cana.
Santiago de Chile is the group’s third most important hub. The augmented flights to Punta Cana benefit travelers from Argentina, Uruguay, Australia, and New Zealand. They offer the shortest route from the Caribbean to Oceania compared to other airlines.
In Miami, despite strong competition, the only airline to operate with wide-body aircraft is LATAM. It offers greater comfort, and for travel agencies, it allows marketing 2×1 vacation destinations for tourists.
