One of the key topics was the best practices to win the battle against ransomware, a session in which Rick Vanover, Global Senior Director of Product Strategy at Veeam, highlighted that 85% of organizations suffered at least one cyberattack in the last 12 months (vs. 76% in previous years); Another fact to highlight is that in 93% of the cyber-events, the criminal tried to attack the backup repositories first, which undoubtedly becomes an alert and an important aspect to take into account within organizations.
It is clear that companies must prepare to win the war on ransomware. Two secret weapons according to Veeam experts for this are immutability and instant storage. Adopting best practices, such as the 3-2-1-1-0 Rule, which includes offline backups and provides the necessary immutability, can also make a big difference, but the right technology is still necessary.
