Madrid.— The Lopesan Hotel Group arrived at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) with a clear objective: strengthen its position in priority markets while pushing forward with ambitious expansion projects that will redefine its presence in Punta Cana and Madrid.
During this year’s edition of FITUR, the company is highlighting one of its most significant undertakings: the full transformation of the historic Hotel Miguel Ángel on Madrid’s Paseo de la Castellana. Backed by an investment nearing €250 million, Lopesan will unveil the latest construction updates and preview what guests can expect when the property reopens at the end of 2026. This project marks the group’s official entry into Madrid’s ultra‑luxury urban hotel sector, a segment in which the company aims to become a relevant player.
At the same time, Lopesan is placing particular emphasis on the Dominican Republic, where it is preparing one of the most ambitious hospitality developments in the Bávaro–Punta Cana area. The group expects to inaugurate three new resorts in May 2026:
• Caoba Lagoon Resort, created for premium travelers seeking exclusivity.
• Serenity Bay Resort, designed specifically for adults.
• Splash Cove Resort, a family‑oriented property with entertainment‑focused amenities.
The Punta Cana master plan represents a total investment of more than €300 million and includes the construction of a new Convention Center. This addition aims to boost the region’s MICE industry (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions), positioning Punta Cana as a competitive destination for the events and corporate travel sector.
Following a strong close to 2025 —with a 7% increase in stays compared to the previous year— the Lopesan commercial team is using FITUR to meet with major international tourism partners and key figures in the Spanish market. Their focus is on driving early bookings, improving air connectivity, and reducing seasonality in demand.
The group is also reinforcing its strategy to consolidate the MICE segment across all its destinations. One of its main goals is to further position Gran Canaria as a leading island for congresses and large-scale events.
