Minister of Tourism prioritizes resolution of pending matters at ASONAHORES 2023 Trade Fair

Punta Cana.- The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, highlighted the advancement and progress of that sector at the recent Asonahores 2023 Commercial Exhibition; however, he emphasized pending issues to continue advancing in that direction.

Among the works he emphasized, he listed:

The refund of the Tax on the Transfer of Industrialized Goods and Services (ITBIS) to tourists upon arriving in the country; encourage shopping tourism in the Dominican Republic; as well as the prior authorization program (Preclearance in English), so that the country continues to advance in tourism, and other works.

“The result of tourism has not been the effort of the tourism minister, nor of the President of the Republic.
It has been the effort of the unprecedented alliance of the public and private sectors, leaving aside political, personal, business and party interests, to put on the table the #1 Dominican Republic in the recovery of tourism in the world, in the 21 (in the year 2021)…” Collado stated.

Likewise, he assured that “for 3 years there has been a public-private alliance of men and women that hurts the country, that hurts tourism, and that takes care of […] every day we are preparing to be a much safer destination [ …] what is the desire of the Dominican people to move forward”.

The fair is a stage attended by supplier companies -national and foreign- of products and services; general managers, purchasing managers, food and beverage managers, and other musical actors.

These statements were offered moments after cutting the ribbon to inaugurate the Trade Fair that was held from September 6 to 8 at the Blue Mall Punta Cana facilities.
