HOLY SUNDAY– On Saturday, November 2, the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) shared a report. It highlighted the continuous growth of Dominican tourism from January to September 2024. During this period, a record-breaking 8,362,285 visitors came to the country.
Davit Collado, head of Mitur, released the data. He revealed the statistics for September and the annual figures.
Collado shared that in September alone, the country welcomed 468,916 air tourists and 111,701 sea cruisers.

He pointed out that this growth displays a 55% increase from September 2019 and a 21% increase from 2022.
The official announced that between January and September the country received 6,430,400 air tourists and 1,931,896 cruisers.
“Together, these figures total 8,362,295 visitors, which sets a new record,” said Collado.
Compared to the first nine months of 2019, 2022, and 2023, these figures represent increases of 45%, 36%, and 10% respectively.
Collado anticipates the year to conclude with 11.5 million visitors, marking another historical high.
He stated that the top tourist contributing countries were the United States (39%), Canada (9%), Colombia (8%), Argentina (6%), and England (4%).
The airports with the most tourist arrivals were Punta Cana (56%), Las Americas (27%), Cibao (12%), Puerto Plata (3%), and La Romana (1%).
