Holy Sunday– The Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) published a report yesterday, November 2. It revealed Dominican tourism’s robust growth in 2024’s January to September period. It reached a record number of 8,362,285 visitors.
David Collado, head of Mitur, announced this data. He presented the tourism sector’s statistics for September and the year to date.
The data indicated that in September alone, the country welcomed 468,916 air tourists and 111,701 sea cruisers.

Collado revealed that this growth signifies an increase of 55% from 2019’s same month and 21% above 2022.
The official informed that during the given period, the country had 6,430,400 air tourists and 1,931,896 cruise passengers.
Collado remarked that the combined figure reached 8,362,295 visitors in the January to September period, breaking their previous record.
He noted an increase of 45% from 2019, 36% from 2022, and 10% compared to 2023 for the first nine months of the year.
Collado projected that the year would culminate with an arrival of 11.5 million visitors, setting another record.
The larger tourist-emitting countries were the United States contributing 39%, Canada 9%, Colombia 8%, with Argentina and England adding 6% and 4% respectively.
Lastly, the airports receiving the most tourists were Punta Cana with 56%, Las Americas with 27%, Cibao with 12%, Puerto Plata with 3%, and La Romana with 1%.
