HOLY SUNDAY. The Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) revealed yesterday, November 2, that Dominican tourism saw consistent growth in the period from January to September 2024. The total visitor count reached 8,362,285, marking the highest number of visitors in history during this period.
David Collado, the chief of Mitur, disclosed the statistics for September and the year to date.
The official data shows that in September, the country welcomed 468,916 airborne tourists and 111,701 seaborne cruisers.

He stated this growth represents a 55% increase compared to September 2019 and a 21% increase compared to 2022.
The country has received 6,430,400 airborne tourists and 1,931,896 cruise passengers during this period, Collado reported.
The official declared, “These numbers contribute to the total of 8,362,295 visitors for the first nine months, breaking our own record.”
This visitor count for the first nine months reflects a rise of 45% compared to 2019, 36% compared to 2022, and 10% compared to 2023, he emphasized.
He forecasted that by the end of the year, the total visitors would peak at 11.5 million, setting a new record.
As per Collado, the countries with the highest number of tourists include the United States (39%), Canada (9%), Colombia (8%), Argentina (6%), and England (4%).
The airports receiving maximum tourists were Punta Cana (56%), Las Américas (27%), Cibao (12%), Puerto Plata (3%), and La Romana (1%).
