HOLY SUNDAY– The Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) released a report yesterday, November 2nd. It showed Dominican tourism growing steadily throughout 2024. It reached a record-breaking 8,362,285 visitors between January and September.
David Collado, head of Mitur, presented the statistics for September and the year’s progress.
The official data showed a September influx of 468,916 air tourists and 111,701 sea cruisers in the country.

The growth shows a 55% increase from the same month in the previous year and is 21% more than 2022.
He also mentioned 6,430,400 air tourists and 1,931,896 cruise passengers have visited in the mentioned period.
“The total number of visitors for the January to September period is 8,362,295. We have broken our record,” said Collado.
These numbers denote a 45% increase compared to 2019, a 36% rise from 2022, and a 10% increase from 2023.
Collado anticipates the year will end with 11.5 million visitors, establishing another historic record.
According to him, the primary tourist-source countries are the U.S. (39%), Canada (9%), Colombia (8%), Argentina (6%), and England (4%).
As for the airports, the most tourists arrived at Punta Cana (56%), followed by Las Americas (27%), Cibao (12%), Puerto Plata (3%), and La Romana (1%).
