HOLY SUNDAY – The Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) revealed on Saturday, November 2, their report of Dominican tourism’s developments from January to September 2024. The report showed a consistent growth, tallying to a total of 8,362,285 visitors. This is the highest number ever achieved within this time frame.
David Collado, the head of Mitur, disclosed the information during his presentation of the September statistics and the year to date.
The official records show that in September alone, 468,916 air and 111,701 sea tourists visited the country.

Collado stated this growth is 55% more than the same month in 2019 and 21% more compared to 2022.
We received 6,430,400 air tourists and 1,931,896 sea tourists during this period, he reported. This results in a total of 8,362,295 visitors, breaking our previous record.
These numbers indicate a 45%, 36%, and 10% increase compared to the first nine months of 2019, 2022, and 2023 respectively, as emphasized by Collado.
Collado forecasts to welcome 11.5 million visitors by the year end, thus setting a new record.
He stated that the major contributing countries are the US (39%), Canada (9%), Colombia (8%), Argentina (6%), and England (4%).
The airports with the most tourists were Punta Cana (56%), Las Américas (27%), Cibao (12%), Puerto Plata (3%), and La Romana (1%).
