new York.- Understanding the value that the United States has as the main source of tourists for the Dominican Republic, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, announced that in January 2024 a tourism and real estate fair will be held in New York.

“And to continue recognizing the importance of New York for Dominican tourism, in January we will have a tourism and real estate fair so Dominicans who live here can invest in the country safely and also have good prices for their stays in the tourist centers,” he added.

Collado made the statement during the launch of the Change the Season campaign, carried out by the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) to honor the community’s contribution to the country in tourism matters; and for this a dome was installed in the renowned Times Square, presenting the main virtues of the country: beaches, mountains and its sweets.

“The United States is the main source of tourists to the DR and this year there are between three and four million tourists to the country, New York City is the city that brings the most tourists to our country,” said Collado.

Adriano Espaillat, a member of the United States House of Representatives, was present at the activity and said that “in Washington they talk to me about beautiful beaches and baseball when they refer to the Dominican Republic,” according to Diario Libre.

Likewise, Ydanis Rodríguez, transportation commissioner of the city of New York, indicated that “in 1983 a young Dominican came to wash dishes in New York, then to make sandwiches. My history is the history of the Dominicans here, today I can return and go to the Rainieri hotels, to Punta Cana, to Samaná.
