In Punta Cana, the Reserve Bank auto fair received applications totaling 23 billion pesos. However, only 7,800,000 million were approved. This shows that more than a third of the applicants were not eligible for a loan.
Samuel Pereyra, the executive president of the bank, emphasized the success of the auto fair. He attributed this to the market’s trust in the economic policy of President Luis Abinader.
The Reserve Bank reported that this year’s Expomóvil Banreservas 2024 broke all previous records for financing and vehicle transactions.
A total of 11,000 cars were shipped, including a notable increase in electric and hybrid vehicles (144 units). Additionally, 1,377 commercial units were shipped worth RD$3,218 million.
Pereyra noted that the fair not only helped in renewing the vehicle fleet but also stimulated the country’s economy by impacting all consumer segments.
