Punta Cana.– The Puntacana Group reported that the elevated lanes at the Los Manantiales overpass, now in the final phase of construction, have been opened to traffic in order to streamline vehicle circulation around Punta Cana International Airport and its surrounding communities.

The junction, a key access point for travelers and workers heading to the terminal and nearby tourist zones, had been closed since August 25 while work progressed on the structure. During that period, vehicles traveling from Punta Cana toward Bávaro were diverted along a temporary route.

With this latest phase, lanes in both directions over the overpass are now open. Authorities indicated that the roadway beneath the structure will be reactivated later this week, once the newly installed traffic lights are fully calibrated and synchronized to coordinate the flow of vehicles safely.

According to the Puntacana Group, the Los Manantiales project was conceived to decongest one of the busiest intersections in the eastern region, offering a safer and more efficient route for drivers and helping to cut travel times along the main corridor that connects Punta Cana, Bávaro and surrounding tourist developments.

The company called on motorists to strictly follow the guidance of agents from the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (DIGESETT) and the Military and Police Commission (Comipol), who are on-site directing circulation while the final adjustments to the infrastructure are completed.

The statement explains that the temporary detour put in place over the past weeks was a preventive measure designed to protect road users and allow construction crews to work with greater speed and safety.

Puntacana Group also urged drivers to take additional precautions when traveling through the area, factor extra minutes into their journey, respect speed limits, and comply with the instructions of traffic authorities as the overpass enters its final stage before full operation.
