Punta Cana Hosts International Symposium on Public Security and Police Reform

Punta Cana — National and international experts gathered for the inaugural International Symposium on Public Security, a forum dedicated to assessing progress in the Dominican Republic’s Police Transformation and Reform initiative.

Luis Ernesto García Hernández, Executive Commissioner for Police Reform, highlighted significant improvements in the institution’s operational and administrative management, emphasizing their positive impact on efficiency and community engagement.

Colonel Nandy Reyes Santos, Director of Police Operational Modernization, introduced the New Police Service Delivery Model, aimed at upgrading patrol systems and enhancing response capabilities.

In the education sector, scholar Mu-Kien Adriana Sang Ben presented advancements in officer training, including new academic programs designed to reinforce ethics and human rights.

Transparency within the force was another focal point. Elena Viyella de Paliza, President of the Advisory Council for Administrative and Financial Transformation of the National Police, outlined measures to strengthen accountability mechanisms.

The symposium concluded with the Institutional Strengthening Expert Forum, moderated by Servio Tulio Castaños Guzmán and Colonel Ana Josefina Jiménez Cruceta, where participants discussed both the achievements and challenges of the ongoing modernization process.
