Punta Cana to Host Civil Aviation Symposium with Delegates from 95 Countries

THE III World Symposium to Support the Implementation of the International Civil Aviation Organization (GISS) will occur in the tourist community of Punta Cana from April 30 to May 2, 2024. 95 countries are expected to participate.

IDAC OACITHE General Director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, (IDAC), Hector Porcella, reported this and highlighted its importance as the first time it will be held in the Americas by the ICAO.

THE Dominican Republic was chosen as the venue, recognizing its growing importance in global aviation, according to Porcella.

The organizing committee has officially invited President Luis Abinader and Tourism Minister David Collado, among other officials and representatives from the Dominican aeronautical and business sectors.

UNDER the direction of ICAO President Salvatore Sciacchitano and Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar, the symposium will showcase digital tools and initiatives to strengthen aviation, drive innovation, and promote sustainable development.

Titled “Optimizing Aviation Capacity: Strategies for Safe Skies and a Sustainable Future,” the panels will cover modernized airport infrastructure, crisis response, advanced air mobility, and tourism’s role in air transport growth.

Topics will include aeronautical training, emerging technologies, competency-based training, and the “Finvest Hub” initiative to decarbonize aviation by 2050.

In addition to discussions, Member States can explore the latest aviation products and services from sponsors and exhibitors.
