The Puntacana Group, through its Puntacana Foundation (FPC), continues to strengthen its long-standing commitment to public health by delivering free medical services to vulnerable communities across La Altagracia province.
Throughout the past year, the Foundation carried out four Community Medical Missions, providing essential healthcare to more than 1,600 residents, including children and adults, in areas such as Verón, Friusa–Bávaro, El Cortecito–Bávaro, Cabeza de Toro, Peñón de los Reyes, La Ceiba, and El Macao. These initiatives represent a vital lifeline for families with limited access to regular medical care.
All consultations, treatments, medications, and educational sessions were offered completely free of charge, reinforcing the Foundation’s mission to promote equitable access to healthcare and improve quality of life in the region.
Nearly Two Decades of Community Health Impact
Since 2006, the Puntacana Foundation has worked to expand healthcare access and promote holistic well-being in the province’s most underserved communities. This effort has been made possible through strategic partnerships with academic institutions and international medical organizations, including Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) and Duquesne University.
In 2025, the Foundation translated this commitment into action through three general medicine missions and one specialized dental mission, each lasting five days and designed to deliver comprehensive, preventive, and follow-up care.
General Medicine Missions: Prevention and Early Detection
The general medical missions, held in March, June, and October 2025, were conducted in collaboration with Duquesne University and VCOM. During these sessions, medical teams provided consultations for both pediatric and adult patients, distributed essential medications, and offered preventive health education.
These efforts played a crucial role in early disease detection, raising health awareness, and empowering communities with knowledge to prevent future illnesses.
Dental Care Reaches Verón Community
In November 2025, the Puntacana Foundation expanded its impact with a dental mission in Verón, carried out alongside Action for Smiles. This initiative delivered critical oral healthcare services, including fillings, extractions, sealants, and oral hygiene education.
The dental mission resulted in 906 dental procedures and 220 medical evaluations for children and adults. Participants also received oral hygiene kits, supporting long-term dental health beyond the mission itself.
A Collaborative Model for Sustainable Care
Each mission brought together medical professionals from the United States and local healthcare providers, including teams from the Oscar de la Renta Pediatric Care Center and the Verón Primary Care Unit. This collaborative approach ensured high-quality care and facilitated continuity for patients requiring specialized or ongoing treatment.
All patients were formally registered, and cases needing follow-up were referred to local health centers, strengthening an integrated and sustainable care model.
Community and Youth Engagement at the Core
The success of these medical missions was also driven by the dedication of student volunteers from the Máximo Potencial Educational Center, as well as the active participation of students from the Puntacana International School. Local community leaders played a vital role in coordination and outreach, working closely with the Foundation to ensure strong community involvement.
A Lasting Commitment to Health in Eastern Dominican Republic
Through these initiatives, the Puntacana Group and Puntacana Foundation continue to expand their social impact, reaffirming their dedication to healthcare access, disease prevention, and the well-being of communities in eastern Dominican Republic.
These Community Medical Missions stand as a powerful example of how public-private collaboration and community engagement can create lasting, positive change in the lives of thousands of families.
