RD, sede de la 83ª edición del Torneo Mundial de Pesca de Marlín Azul

Cabeza de Toro, Punta Cana, La Altagracia.- La República Dominicana alberga el 83º torneo mundial de pesca International Light Tackle (ILITTA). El evento cuenta con la participación de 22 embarcaciones de 10 países, que se dedican a la captura y liberación del Marlín Azul.

Esta versión del torneo de alta competición, que se celebra en Quisqueya por quinta vez, incluye competidores de varios países como Estados Unidos, Puerto Rico, South África, Brasil, México, Guatemala, Panamá, Costa Rica y República Dominicana.

Eduardo Read, director de este torneo, enfatizó que el evento realzará la reputación de la República Dominicana como paraíso de la pesca deportiva. Reveló que el país participa con tres equipos llenos de pescadores experimentados, con la esperanza de retener el título ganado el año anterior en Panamá.

El ballet folclórico del Ministerio de Turismo recibió a los participantes locales e internacionales en la ceremonia de apertura del concurso, el pasado domingo. El espectáculo concluyó con una presentación de la banda One Love Reggae Band. Elizabeth Nuñez del MITUR estuvo presente en el evento.

El torneo se lleva a cabo del 12 al 19 de octubre en el Club Náutico Cabeza de Toro. Los competidores comenzaron a dar lo mejor de sí desde el lunes 14, con la esperanza de ganar la medalla al final del concurso.

El torneo continuará los días 15, 17 y 18, con las embarcaciones en el mar desde las 8:00 am hasta las 4:30 pm. Cada equipo consiste en tres pescadores por cada embarcación. En total, 66 pescadores competirán por el premio “Big Belt”.

El torneo comenzó con una reunión de directores de embarcaciones el domingo. Durante el encuentro, el presidente de la ILTTA, Dean Schroeder, reconoció a Eduardo Read, director del evento. Read fue el orador principal, brindando detalles sobre el torneo. Además, se llevó a cabo una asamblea general y reunión de pescadores.
