Some victims paid large sums in advance and now have little chance of recovering the money. Brokers aim to collect commissions from banks.
The fake owner signed a rental contract for a year at a high price. The real owner found tenants at his property unexpectedly. Scams and fraud are not uncommon in the area, including in sales outside of real estate.
