Rep.– In the interest of promoting best practices in the financial sector and encouraging debate on the role of productive agents in the preservation of the environment and financial inclusion, the Third Latin American Congress of Sustainable and Inclusive Banking will be held in the country, an event that organized by the Association of Multiple Banks of the Dominican Republic (ABA) and the Latin American Federation of Banks (Felaban).

They reported that representatives of regional organizations, banking executives, businessmen and experts in the areas of inclusion and sustainability will meet on May 14 and 15 in Santo Domingo to share their perspectives and experiences, which range “from inspiring banking success stories to innovative sustainable solutions and inclusive strategies”.
In a press document, they expressed that one of their main thematic axes will explore the regulatory frameworks and public policies aligned with the objectives of Basel and the Paris Agreement, seen from the perspectives of regional and local entities linked to the compliance and execution of these regulations.
The ABA and Felaban pointed out that the event will address innovation in thematic financial instruments such as green bonds, biodiversity bonds and the blue economy, as well as different strategies to finance adaptation to climate change and promote the circular economy as an engine of sustainability.
They indicated that the III Congress of Sustainable and Inclusive Banking will also have spaces to present on digital tools, digital payments, the use of artificial intelligence and other innovations that promote access to financial services.
Likewise, the thematic agenda will include support for vulnerable communities to counteract the problems derived from climate change and the role of fintech as agents of social change, the organizers said.
“The strengthening of the business ecosystem through support for the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) segment, the optimization of value chains in the real sector and collaboration with NGOs will be another relevant thematic pillar, where the importance of strategic alliances will be highlighted. and business sustainability“, they maintained.
They highlighted that the regional event will also address the challenges in terms of inclusion and sustainability of important productive sectors such as energy, tourism, manufacturing and agribusiness.
