Madrid.– The forecasts for the end of 2024 anticipate that Air Europe once again faces a historic year. The turnover of Air Europa Holdings and subsidiaries will rise to above 2,900 million euros this year, which will represent an increase of 6.3% compared to the figure for 2023. Likewise, the company expects that this trend of Growth is maintained throughout 2025, allowing billing to continue in this line thanks to a strategy based on increasing available capacity and increasing supply.
The good results recorded reflect, once again, the success of the planning followed in recent years, which has made it possible to obtain excellent operating figures, both in terms of available seats and passengers transported in Spain, Europe and North Africa, and America. .
Adding to the good performance of the airline is the solidity provided by the recent capital increase undertaken, which will reach 81 million euros. Although the 65 million subscribed by Globalia, Air Europa's parent company, were already enough to complete the end of the year with guarantees, another 16 million will finally be added corresponding to the IAG group, which will thus retain 20% of the capital. This decision confirms confidence in the management carried out and optimism towards the future prospects and profitability of the project, which maintains its long-term expansion plans and compliance with all its commitments.
Air Europa will end the year having transported more than 12 million passengers, a figure that represents a growth of 4.4% compared to 2023. It is worth highlighting not only the good performance of the national and European market, but, above all, that of long-haul, where there will be more than 3.2 million travelers.
The results also include the impact on the business of the new Globalia Mantenimiento hangar in Madrid-Barajas. Since it came into operation in the second quarter of the year, it has allowed the management and availability of the fleet to be significantly improved, in addition to providing important business opportunities by providing service to aircraft from many other companies.
«Despite coming from a historic year, everything indicates that this year will be even better than 2023. We have continued to improve our operating figures, both in number of passengers and in occupancy volume, to respond to a market that we still expect to continue growing. . We continue to demonstrate that we are a key and essential actor for the country's mobility and for connecting travelers between Europe and America.”says Jesús Nuño de la Rosa, CEO of Air Europa.
