Arajet, together with the General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE), screened the Dominican film “Pepe” before a group of Canadian media and tour operators, within the framework of the Toronto International Film Festival, one of the most important in the world, which is taking place from September 5 to 15 in this Canadian city.

This collaboration between both entities is the result of a strategic agreement signed in May, in which they agreed to develop joint actions aimed at supporting the international positioning of the Dominican film industry in global markets, allowing our producers, actors and actresses to achieve greater visibility and participate in foreign festivals and events such as the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Arajet is celebrating its second anniversary of operations and thanked the nearly 120,000 Canadians who have chosen Arajet as their preferred means of air transportation in the region to connect with the robust network of destinations it operates.

Manuel Luna, Chief of Communications and External Affairs Officer, said, “Arajet is committed to promoting the Dominican Republic beyond its borders, to letting the world know its talent, its culture and that we are more than just beach, merengue and rum.” He also added that starting October 27, the airline will be offering direct flights to Punta Cana, which is the preferred destination for Canadians.

Luna Sued also stressed that he is proud that Arajet and DGCINE can support a Dominican production of such a high level as “Pepe”, by Nelson Carlo de los Santos Arias, winner of the prestigious Berlin Bear award at the 74th Berlinale for best director; “What better way to celebrate Arajet’s second anniversary than by witnessing the development of Dominican seventh art productions.”

Marianna Vargas Gurilieva, director of the DGCINE, said: “We recognize Arajet’s contributions to Dominican cinema and its contribution to the dissemination and participation in important international venues.”

The Toronto International Film Festival is one of the largest and most important film festivals in the world, held annually in the city of Toronto, Canada, where around 400 films are presented in different categories.
