Santo Domingo.- Igor Rodríguez Durán, general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), welcomed the inauguration of the new Arajet hub at the Punta Cana International Airport as an important step forward in strengthening the air connectivity of the Dominican Republic with Latin America and the rest of the world. .
Rodríguez stated that the airline's operational base will open new opportunities for international travelers and contribute to the economic development of the region.
In his opening speech, the official highlighted the efforts of Arajet executives to make the opening of this hub possible, an undertaking that involved the other institutions involved in the Dominican aeronautical system as a way to support the growth of our companies.
“I wish Arajet all the best with this new destination and assure them that they have the support of the Dominican government and the IDAC to guarantee operational security,” he said.
He also thanked the PuntaCana Group, in the person of Frank Rainieri, for its willingness to continue developing civil aviation in the country and especially in the eastern tourist area, with the aim of together taking Dominican aeronautics to the next level.
The general director of the airline, Víctor Pacheco, revealed that they currently operate with 10 aircraft and that the airline reached an important milestone by exceeding one million passengers so far this year.
“Our goal is to continue growing, with a projection of operating between 13 and 15 aircraft by 2025, with which we hope to move around 1.5 million passengers annually,” said Pacheco.
The founder of Arajet also highlighted the importance of working together with international airlines and the PuntaCana Group to create interline agreements and consolidate that airport as a “multi-destination.”
