Madrid, Spain.- At the FITUR 2025 International Tourism Fair, Banco Popular Dominicano announced an investment of US$ 71 million in the Advanced Oportunidades II Closed Investment Fund, managed by Advanced Asset Management (AAM). The funds will be used to purchase and renovate Playa Hotels & Resort, which will operate under the Wyndham Alltra brand. The hotel, located in Uvero Alto, La Altagracia, will have 620 rooms, common areas and a new 7,500 m² water park.
The project, which will begin construction in February 2025, is expected to create more than 1,200 direct and indirect jobs, benefiting local communities and suppliers. The development will also meet sustainability standards, improving the region's hotel competitiveness. The hotel is expected to welcome 365,000 guests a year.
The senior executive vice president of Banco Popular, René Grullón Finet, highlighted the bank's commitment to strengthening the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic through the diversification of its offer. The general director of AAM, Felipe Amador, and the president, Manuel Diez, also highlighted the role of the project in boosting the country's competitiveness and expanding its tourism infrastructure.
