Within the framework of the Dominican Republic-Socialist Republic of Vietnam Business Roundtable, held at the Convention Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the president of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), Héctor Porcella, highlighted the strategic advances of the Republic Dominican Republic in terms of air connectivity and opportunities to strengthen commercial and air transport relations between both nations.
The event was attended by the Prime Minister of Vietnam, His Excellency, Phạm Minh Chính; the Minister of Economy, Planning and Development, Pável Isa; the Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos and the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugo Rivera Fernández, representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs; who highlighted the importance of this meeting as a fundamental step to deepen bilateral ties in key areas such as trade, energy, telecommunications, tourism and civil aviation.
During his speech, Héctor Porcella highlighted that the Dominican Republic has established itself as a leader in air connectivity in the Caribbean, with an airport infrastructure that includes eight international airports and 11 national airlines operating international flights to different cities around the world.
In addition, he emphasized the implementation of the open skies policy, as a strategic policy of President Luis Abinader to promote air connectivity and create an environment conducive to the development of business in the air field.
During his speech, Porcella highlighted the investment being made by the Punta Cana Airport, which will become the largest logistics hub in the region, which will generate significant opportunities for transportation operations in the Caribbean, Central America and South America.
Likewise, he highlighted that from the Dominican Republic, we connect with more than 150 destinations operated by more than 375 airlines, reinforcing the country's position as a strategic center of regional air connectivity.
The event culminated with the mutual commitment of the authorities to continue working to strengthen relations between the Dominican Republic and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, exploring new opportunities for collaboration in strategic sectors that benefit both nations.
