While Carlos A. Peguero, Deputy Minister of Tourism for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Tourism, said during the opening of the meeting that, “tourism is one of the most dynamic industries and in constant evolution, therefore, these spaces are fundamental to Be aware of the latest trends and challenges to be able to take advantage of opportunities when they present and overcome the difficulties that may arise. ”

The event had the special participation of Alicia Gomez, director of the Department of Legal Affairs and International Standards of UN Tourism, who began the act with his conference “The legal tools of UN Tourism on the sustainable path”, where she talked about work of UN Tourism in the field of tourism, and the legal tools available to assist countries, in order to achieve more responsible, ethical and sustainable tourism, and effectively face current challenges such as climate changes, touring, touring, Accessibility, inclusion, among others.

He also highlighted the new launch of the Tourism Law Observatory for Latin America and the Caribbean, of which Jose Quiroz, founding partner of QA Legal, has been appointed by UN Tourism as an academic collaborator for the Dominican Republic.

For his part, Julio Facal, a member of the UN Tourism Ethics Committee, spoke about “The Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Sustainable Tourism”, where he explained that ethics is closely linked to sustainability and this is a synonym for planning, Because the changes must be under reasoned planning. Finally, Mrs. Viclenny Liriano, director of the Department of Tourism and Regulatory of QA Legal, moderated the panel that addressed the issue of the integration of social responsibility in tourist operations, initiatives to improve accessibility, and strategies to balance Profitability with sustainability.

By way of conclusion, the need of a new Tourism Law that integrates the aspects of sustainability, incorporating tools such as those offered by UN Tourism, and adapts to best practices for the new times, opportunities and challenges was highlighted that crosses tourism not only Dominican but worldwide.

Finally, there was the scoop of the celebration in July 2025 of the Regional Tourism Law Congress (of the Americas) of the UN Tourism Observatory, to be organized by QA legal with the support of Grupo Puntacana.
