Ernesto Veloz, president of the Eastern Hotels Association (Asoleste) and member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores), was recognized with the 29na. Twenty -ninth) Edition of the Preferential Editorial Group Awards, which are delivered every year at the International Tourism Fair (Fitur 2025).
Veloz, with more than 40 years dedicated to tourism, was selected by the jury, for its “support for the improvement of the tourism sector” and its “tireless work” to the service to the hotel in Punta Cana, the most important tourist community of The Dominican Republic.
The presentation of Veloz was made by Rafael Caballero, president of the preferential group, and the award was delivered by Juan Bancalari, president of Asonahores. Frank Rainieri, founder of the tourist community of Punta Cana and Asoleste and past president of Asonahores was present at the event.
Upon receiving the award, Veloz said that he thanked the recognition, and explained that his dedication to work for hotels, the quality of the tourist offer and the community of Punta Cana, has made it as a service to the country, aware of what it means Tourism for the economy and development of the Dominican Republic.
He said that every day when his workday begins “he thinks of the importance of Asoleste as the main representative of the Verón-Punta Cana municipal district and what this community means for tourism, the economy and development of the Dominican Republic, because it contributes about 10% of the gross domestic product ”.
Outstanding actors of the Dominican tourism industry have been recognized by the preferential group awards. The list includes Haydée Rainieri, Rafael Blanco, David Llibre, Luis López and Arturo Villanueva, all past presidents of Asonahores. Juan Manuel Martín de Oliva, vice president of Banco Popular, responsible for the tourist area, one of the main portfolios of this entity was also distinguished.
In addition to Ernesto Veloz, Bernardo Quetglas, president of BQ and Sidetours, Miguel Amengual, president of Mac and Enrique Saiz, CEO of Wamos were awarded.
