Punta Cana, Dominican Republic – January 2025. The Vista Sol Punta Cana Beach Resort & Spa hotel marked a milestone in its commitment to the environment and sustainability with the inauguration of a new viewpoint in the emblematic beach El Cortecito. This project, the result of an exhaustive environmental planning and an investment of USD 3 million, managed to protect, stabilize and recover much of the lost beach due to erosion, transforming the area into an even more attractive and safe space for visitors.
The project, executed by the Spanish company Ciomar with the technical supervision of the prestigious University of Cantabria, focused on the protection and stabilization of the marine area of the hotel. This initiative included the installation of geotubos stuffed with sand, then covered with a viewpoint catwalk made by Vergez and Associates Constructora, which not only guarantees functionality, but also beautifies the environment. In addition, it complies with all the regulations established by the Ministry of Environment, ensuring that each step contributes to the ecological well -being of the region.
The positive impact of this project is not limited only to the environment, but also significantly improves the experience of guests. This effort is part of a comprehensive plan to preserve the local ecosystem, affected for years by the deterioration of the coral barrier and the consequent increase in erosion. In addition, the risk represented by weakened palm trees and conifers, which used to fall on the beach or the sea, endangering visitors.
