El Banco Popular de República Dominicana y Meliá Hoteles Internacional ha formalizado una alianza estratégica para potenciar la inversión en sus dos próximos hoteles en Punta Cana: el Paradisus Palma Real Golf & Spay el nuevo ZEL Punta Cana.

Popular y MeliaA través del Fondo Cerrado de Sociedades Popular, el grupo financiero ha invertido US$ 63 millones de dólares en estas importantes propiedades de la hotelera. La operación, que se realiza mediante una ampliación de capital, también supone que el fondo se hace con el 25% de las filiales de Meliá propietarias de estos activos, según Desarrollo.

“Ambos establecimientos son dos activos con gran potencial en el destino. Con el impulso del Grupo Popular, este mes se abrirá el primer hotel ZEL, marca nacida de la colaboración entre Meliá y el tenista Rafa Nadalen un destino en el que Meliá anunciaba hace poco nuevos planes de crecimiento en el país”, celebran desde la hotelera.

El presidente y consejero delegado de Meliá Hotels International, Gabriel Escarrerha destacado que “esta operación no solo se enmarca en los objetivos de fortalecimiento financiero de Meliá Hotels International, también en la apuesta de la compañía por el destino, donde continuamos creciendo y elevando la experiencia de nuestros clientes”.

Por su parte, tanto Eduardo J. Grullónpresidente de AFP Popularescomo José Manuel Cuervovicepresidente del Área de Filiales del Marcado de Valores del Grupo, han subrayado que “al adquirir una participación accionaria significativa en dos prominentes hoteles, promovemos una inversión estratégica que marca un hito importante tanto para el Grupo Popular y sus filiales como para la industria turística”.
