Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. – The Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana)headed by its executive director, Biviana Riveiro, will lead a strategic mission at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2025, with the aim of promoting the national tourism offer and positioning the country as a key investment destination internationally. The event will be held from January 22 to 26 in Madrid, Spain.
Riveiro highlighted that tourism represents one of the fundamental pillars of the Dominican economy, and that, according to estimates by the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, income from the sector is projected to exceed US$10.6 billion by the end of 2024. Likewise, he stressed that Investment in the tourism sector reached record figures between January and September 2024, registering a growth of 17% compared to the same period of the previous year.
“Tourism not only drives the economic development of our country, but also contributes to improving the quality of life of our communities. Investments in infrastructure, ecotourism and sustainability reflect our strong commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth” stated Riveiro.
In the January-September 2024 period, investment in the tourism sector exceeded US$1,003.5 million, strengthening areas of great importance for the national economy, such as the construction of new hotels, the modernization of airport services and the development of ecotourism projects. . In that sense, the executive director of ProDominicana highlighted: “The Dominican Republic continues to consolidate itself as a reliable destination for investors, thanks to economic stability, government support and a vision of sustainability that guides each of our actions.“
During FITUR 2025, ProDominicana will hold strategic meetings with key players in the tourism industry, with the purpose of identifying new investment opportunities and strengthening strategic alliances. The delegation will also present innovative initiatives focused on the digitalization of tourism services and projects aimed at environmental sustainability.
“FITUR 2025 represents a highly relevant platform to project the excellence of the Dominican Republic as a tourist and investment destination globally. We will continue working to position our country as a world leader in the sector.r”, concluded Riveiro.
