Punta Cana.- Punta Cana has become one of the top destinations for Argentine tourists, cementing its position as a favorite Caribbean getaway. As of July of this year, around 155,000 Argentines had visited the Dominican Republic, an increase of 17% compared to the previous year. For the upcoming summer season, a further 10% increase in arrivals to Argentina is forecast, driven by more frequent air connections.
The increase in Argentine tourism is supported by better flight options, including direct routes from Aerolíneas Argentinas, Copa Airlines, Sky and Arajet. Since adding direct flights to Punta Cana in October, Arajet has experienced strong demand and will introduce an additional flight on Saturdays from December 14 to February 8, offering 3,300 more seats during the peak summer season. Aerolíneas Argentinas is also expanding, with six weekly flights from Buenos Aires starting in January and new routes from Córdoba, Rosario and Tucumán.
Travel agencies report that Punta Cana is one of the most sought-after destinations for Argentinians, particularly those looking for beach vacations. The region's recovery from the pandemic has been rapid, and demand for all-inclusive packages remains strong even as Brazil offers more affordable options. Punta Cana is expected to continue growing in popularity, and many agencies include it as one of their top destinations for next year.
