Punta Cana, DR.- Puntacana GroupThrough its Puntacana Resort brand and in collaboration with LUX TENNIS, it held a unique meeting at the Oscar de la Renta Tennis Center with one of the most prominent players of the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP), the Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz.
The event began with a press conference led by Carlos Alcaraz, Mr. Frank Elías Rainieri, president and CEO of Grupo Puntacana; Mr. Joan Soler, founder and CEO of LUX Tennis; and Ms. Paola Rainieri, Chief Marketing Officer of Grupo Puntacana.
Likewise, it was attended by David Collado, Minister of Tourism; Messrs. Frank and Haydée Rainieri, members of the board of directors of Grupo Puntacana, Ms. Francesca Rainieri, Chief Financial Officer of Grupo Puntacana; and Mr. Manuel Luna, Executive Director of the organization Creating Olympic Dreams (CRESO).
“What a joy to welcome Carlos Alcaraz in Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic. Our country is proud to have one of the main figures in world tennis, a winner of three Grand Slams and, above all, a person with great human qualities, admired by his competitors and society,” said Frank Elías Rainieri, president and CEO of Grupo Puntacana.
Regarding the strategic alliance of Puntacana Resort, he added that: “together with LUX Tennis we are starting a new chapter in the promotion of tennis in our country, with the aim of training new talents who can aspire to compete on international circuits,” said Rainieri.
Alcaraz indicated that this is the first meeting in which he offers tennis clinics in the Dominican Republic, and where he has acquired unique experiences. “The Dominican Republic is incredible, and the Dominicans are very approachable and nice. It has been a very enjoyable stay, I love the beaches and it is something that I will always remember,” said the Spanish tennis player.
Meanwhile, Joan Soler, founder and CEO of LUX Tennis, stated “we are very proud to be allies of Grupo Puntacana and Puntacana Resort. We have a presence in 50 centers in the world, but the Oscar de la Renta Tennis Center in Puntacana Resort is number one. “We are going to do great things to develop tennis in Punta Cana.”
The afternoon continued with three tennis clinics for children ages 6 to 11, one for junior players (12 to 16 years) and one clinic for adults, closing with a “Meet & Greet” with fans, Puntacana Resort owners and members of the Oscar de la Renta Tennis Center.
A young star and promise of tennis
Carlos Alcaraz is a professional tennis player born in Spain, who currently occupies third position in the ATP ranking, and current champion of the Wimbledon Championships and the Roland Garros Tournament. In 2022 he won his first ATP Tour 500, the Rio de Janeiro Open, and in April his first ATP Tour Masters 1000, the Miami Open. In September of the same year, he won his first Grand Slam after beating Casper Ruud in the final of the United States Open, with that victory he became the youngest number one in the ATP world ranking in history, achieving it at the age of 19 and 18 weeks.
