Santiago, DR.- Vice President Raquel Peña announced that the steel construction industry in the Dominican Republic is creating more than 2,500 direct jobs, significantly improving the quality of life for many families and communities. Speaking at Expo Acero Santiago, Peña emphasized the industry’s focus on innovation and social development, reflecting the government’s commitment to progress.
With the participation of 70 companies from countries such as Brazil, the United States, Spain, Mexico and the Dominican Republic, the second edition of Expo Acero Santiago concluded. The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Víctor Bisonó, reported that exports of iron products reached 137.8 million dollars in the first seven months of 2024, which highlights the vital role of the steel sector in the Dominican economy. Companies such as METALDOM, Grupo Estrella and Jhonson SAS proudly displayed the “Made in the Dominican Republic” seal.
Expo Acero Santiago included talks by experts, meetings between professionals and special recognitions for companies and individuals. Among the sponsors were Metaldom, Banco Popular, Banreservas and the Utesa Convention Center. The mayor of Santiago, Ulises Rodríguez, highlighted the role of the city as a venue for events that promote economic growth and creativity.
