The agents and soldiers supported by canine units, during inspection work, observed suspicious images on one of the bags through the X-ray machine, and proceeded to apply the action protocol.

Following the prosecutor's instructions, the suitcase was opened, and a package (in the form of a sheet) was found camouflaged inside the luggage, weighing approximately 2.9 kilograms (two kilograms and 950 grams), presumably of cocaine.

In this case, authorities arrested a 22-year-old young man (Latvian citizen) who was traveling to Frankfurt, Germany, from the Punta Cana terminal.

The Public Prosecutor's Office and the DNCD are deepening their investigations to determine whether there are other people involved in the failed international drug trafficking operation.

The detainee is in the custody of the Permanent Attention Jurisdiction of the province of La Altagracia, to be informed of coercive measures in the next few hours, while the package of the substance was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the corresponding purposes.
